Gathering Point: the park entrence parking lot
Carpool Gathering Point:
The paking lot beside Sears, the intersection of Wolfe Road and
Stevens Creek Blvd, Cupertino. (10101 N Wolfe Rd, Cupertino, CA)
Carpool Gathering Time : 11:00 am
Things to bring: ***water***, lunch, suntan lotion, sturdy
shoes, layered cloths, hat and sunglasses.
Direction to the park:
From San Jose and Santa Cruz take Hwy 9 to Hwy 35. Drive North
on Hwy 35 and turn left on Alpine Road. (From the peninsula,
take Hwy 280 to Hwy 84. Take Hwy 84 west to Hwy 35. Drive south
on Hwy 35 and turn right on Alpine Road.) Take Alpine Road to
Portola State Park Road. Check in at the park office which is
located 1 mile inside the park on the main road. The road dead
ends at Portola. Use low gear on Alpine and Portola State Park
roads as they are steep and winding.

I'll be going directly to the park with 3 other SF folks. We'll meet the rest of you at the entrance at about 12:30pm. If we're a little late, don't wait for us to start the hike, just tell the park ranger at the visitor center what trail you're going on and we'll find out from them once we arrive.

Allen, Welin, Robert, et. al,
Thanks for organizing a great hike yesterday!
1. I've uploaded some pics to the group album. For those that also went to the karaoke at Jeff's residence in Fremont later, please go to this link for more photos.
2. Sorry about the confusion and delay about the trails when coming down Tarwater loop. We were actually outside of Portola park, thus the Canyon Creek trail was not on the map which threw us off when determining our location at the T. I've told the ranger about this and they will be making it clearer in the next map they produce. But we should've been counting miles and time ourselves, which would've made it quite clear where we were. Always learning!
