I'm planning to hike Ohlone Wilderness Trail again in 2008.
Facts:
Strenuous: 28 miles, with ~6000 feet elevation gain
Spring is the best season for the trail: long day time, good temperature, mild weather, trail not too muddy, green grass, wild flowers, etc.
15% shaded
$2 wilderness permit required
Water and road access available in Sunol (8 miles from Stanford avenue and 20 miles from Del Valle).
Trail very easy to follow. Detailed map on the permit.
Qualification:
Last year the event was quite open. It appeared to be fine. But we did encounter some exceptions which may develop into serious situations. As a organizer, I felt quite sorry for what happened to our group members. This time you'll qualify if:
Q1: You hiked Whitney, Shasta, R2R, C2C, 28-mile Ohlone Wilderness in the past 3 years, or
Q2: You got special permission from all organizers.
We don't need to hike too fast. But let's try to keep a reasonable average speed of 2mph+ and finish the hike before sunset.
The minimum group size is 4. If we don't have enough people on RSVP list, I'll postpone the event to spring 2009.
Rule:
It's a long hike. Let's stick together all the time. I don't want to see anyone gets lost again, even if it's in your backyard. 
If you are faster than others, please wait at the next milestone. Explicit permissions from organizers are required for a split, which basically applies to only emergencies. If you'd rather hike alone, or don't want to wait for other people, please drop the RSVP.
Also, if you feel not confident enough about the speed, distance, elevation, etc, or you don't feel good about your status on the hiking day, just cancel your RSVP anytime. Your deposit (if any) would be 100% refunded.
If you feel uncomfortable on the trail, it's ok to stop at Sunol and we'll pick you up when the hike is finished.
I'll prepare a first aid pack for each group.
Mandatory Carpool:
Carpool time: 5:45am Saturday 3/29/2008
Carpool location: China Rose, 387 Jacklin Rd, Milpitas, CA 95035
Directions to Stanford Ave
Direction to Del Valle
Carpool from China Rose is mandatory. We'll divide into two groups there. Each group will drive one or two cars. Car key exchanges will be done in the middle of the trail when two groups meet.
Schedule:
5:45am - Carpool
6:10am - Group A starts from Stanford Ave
6:50am - Group B starts from Del Valle
1:00pm - Group meet
7:00pm - Group A reaches Del Valle
7:40pm - Group B reaches Stanford Ave
8:00pm - back to carpool rally point
The above schedule is for estimation only. We may finish the hike earlier or later than expectation.
Walkie-Talkie setting: channel 3, code 12
Cost:
$5 per person to cover carpool. Suppose we have 8 people in two cars: $5*8 = $40 = $6 (Del Valle Entrance) + $9 (car to Stanford Ave) + $25 (car to Del Valle)
$2 additional if you don't have a valid permit.
Please prepare $5 (or $7) cash when you arrive at China Rose carpool. Or you can choose to paypal <xhuang2001@yahoo.com> before or afterwards.

太谦虚了，目前报名的仨不都是去年完成过的么？
突然间今天左膝不对劲，需要观察一阵。
不过有没有人有兴趣绕着Fremont伊丽莎白湖走28mile?不用负重，沿途有饮水，背点吃的，随时可以休息或者退出。。。
有兴趣的吭个气儿。

I need to train myself for R2R if Chickengrandma doesn't organize "seeing Poppy" trip next week.
Still feel scared to go this Ohlone Wilderness hiking though it's a better training hiking for R2R.

Thanks to Paul, this event is now an official training hike for C2C 2008.
If you'd like to try something but not capable for 28 mile, there is another option: start from Del Valle to Rose Peak, meet group A there and go back to Del Valle. It's 20 miles two way, about 4000 feet elevation gain/loss. Not easy but more doable.
