Hi all,
Sorry for the late notice but I’m thinking of organizing a hike to Pt. Reyes’ Palomarin area, to Alamere falls, this Sunday 3/27/05. Since it’s pretty far from most of you and there are lots and lots of trails, I want to start the hike fairly early. Possibly meet up in SF at about 9am and then get to the park by 10:30 or 11 at the latest. If there’s enough people going, I can plan a one-way hike if we have enough vehicles. This way we’ll see more.

Alamere falls isn’t very well known for some reason by bay area folks but I think it’s one of the best. A cascade of small waterfalls right by the coast pour into the pacific via a pretty large fall ?C about 50 ft in height perhaps. Right now there are tons and tons of beautiful wildflowers. And did I mention we would pass at least 3 lakes?
The hike is at a minimum 8 miles and could be as much as 12 if we do the one-way thingy J Anyway, it’s late notice so please let me know if you’re interested. If more than 4 in total, we’ll go. Prelim schedule would be like follows:
* 9 am. Meet in SF to carpool to Pt. Reyes.
* 10:30 am. Arrive at Palomarin area. Start hike. If we do a one-way hike, then allow 30 more minutes to drive and park return vehicles at another entrance.
* 11am-4:30 pm. Hike. Lots of stops are possible to take pics and lunch and so forth, even if we don’t do more than 8 miles.
* 6-7pm. Return to SF.

| Hi everyone, this is my first post for activity on bayareadragon, sorry about the last minute posting. The hike will be on if I get more than 4 rsvps. I'll watch the weather as well, but I think that shouldn't stop us either. I hiked there in the rain last time and it was beautiful!

Sounds good everyone. Looks like we have enough for a hike then. I'll post info about carpool location in SF (plenty of parking, on the 101 side - 3rd Av/Silvers Av exits) later today.

Hey, glad to see everyone's participation!
Let us ALL meet in SF before heading to Pt. Reyes. Unless of course you're in Oakland or in North Bay already, in which case, please let me know.
For folks that do not already have a carpool from south bay to SF (sinasohu163 & jean?), perhaps you can form one? Otherwise, meet the rest of us in SF and I can drive a few people the rest of the way to Pt. Reyes.
Next step:
Please let me know if you need a ride. We'll work something out, no prob!
SF carpool location: (***removed after hike***) St, SF 94134. 9AM Sharp!
* 101 N to Paul Ave exit (right after the yet-to-be-opened 3rd Av exit)
* Paul Av exit takes you onto Bayshore Blvd. Go on it for about 1/2 mi. Turn left at traffic light, onto Paul Av. This will take you under 101.
* At traffic light/gas station, turn right onto San Bruno av. Go on San Bruno Av for about 2 blocks, turn left onto Woolsey or Wayland - I'd suggest Wayland, which is the 2nd or 3rd street.
* Go 4 blocks, you'll hit Somerset. Park at around that intersection. My place is (***removed after hike***). I'll be out waiting and stuff.
