Also, anyone else are highly welcome to join this birdwatching activity.
I have other commitment on Sat 2/5. How about Sun 2/6? Meet at the same place, Marina Foods in San Mateo/Foster City, at 7am?

Sunday (2/6) ok to me. The only thing I worry is haze / fog in the morning,
so that visibility is poor, which is not good for both driving and birdwatching.
So can we shift the departure time from 7:00am to 7:30am or even 8:00am?
Because no use to arrive early and wait haze / fog to dissipate there.
Sacramento Natl Wildlife Refuge looks is too far away, the one way will take
probably at least 3 hrs. Also I may have some friends from photograph group
to join this birdwatching / photographing.

Mr. Green Mr. Green Mr. Green

chickengrandma, I highly doubt you were standing beside the condor. Confused I think it's not a condor, but it looks like a vulture because the bird doesn't have feather on the head which is the commonality of a vulture.

You are right in this part. Jin Yong (金庸) did describe in his book how ugly Yang Guo's (杨过) condor was.
However, Cathartidae family 美洲鹫科 has 3 spieces in U.S.
    - Turkey Vulture (Cathartes aura) 火鸡秃鹫, common in all U.S.
    - Black Vulture (Coragyps atratus) 黑鹫, in E. and S. U.S.
    - California Condor (Gymnogyps californianus) 加州雕, in California, endangered
In China, there are 5 spieces of vulture. But they are grouped with eagles and hawks as Accipitridae family
    - Cinereous Vulture (Aegypius monachus) 秃鹫 Mongolia, Gansu, Qinghai and N. Xinjiang
    - Red-headed Vulture (Aegypius calvus) 黑兀鹫 rare in W. Yunan
Tibet along Himalayan Mtn, part of Qinghai, Gansu, Sichuan and Yunan
    - Oriental White-backed Vulture (Gyps bengalensis) 白背兀鹫 rare in S. Yunan
    - Lammergeier (Gypaetus barbatus) 胡兀鹫 Tibet, part of Qinghai, Gansu, Sichuan and W. Xinjiang
The above 2 families, Falconidae family 隼科 and couple others form the Order of Falconiformes 鹰形目.

You're really a bird expert. Good knowledge for me. Let me put it this way: vultures, eagles, hawks and condors should belong to the same big family, but vultures don't grow head feather but others do. Right?

Hehe, they all belong to a big Order of Falconiformes 鹰形目. It brings about an interesting question of why New and Old Worl Vultures are different? There has been a theory of convergent evolution
Don Roberson wrote:
The New World Vultures, or "cathartid vultures," are the carrion-eating "buzzards" of the New World. They are similar in many ways to the 15 species of Old World Vultures (carrion-eating habits, bare heads, strong bills, incredible powers of flight) but the two groups have evolved separately from different ancestors. Indeed, the two sets of vultures -- New World and Old -- are among the world's best examples of convergent evolution (Houston 1974). There is some evidence that New World Vultures evolved from the stork lineage (DNA hybridization studies by Sibley & Ahlquist 1990, others summarized by AOU 1998), but apparently there is recent biochemical and other research contrary to this theory (e.g., papers presented at 2002 A.O.U. convention; see also Griffiths 1994).
